Whether you are a healthcare professional caring for a clientele prone to neurocognitive disorders, or you are a caregiver of a person progressively losing mental abilities, it is possible that you are confronted with feelings of helplessness, incomprehension, sorrow and even guilt. To deal with this situation, one must be informed and able to adapt. This is the objective of this virtual workshop which helps to understand and support people with neurocognitive disorders.

01. WORKSHOP: Phlebotomy and lab samples
Laboratory specimens, especially blood tests (phlebotomy), are common practices in our modern health care system. Procedures necessary to diagnose a disease or adjust a drug treatment, their knowledge represents an important skill for any health professional.
This dynamic workshop on laboratory specimens and phlebotomy aims to impart theoretical and practical knowledge about these procedures, as well as the associated universal precautions.
TARGET CUSTOMERS:
- Undergraduate students in health and/or life sciences field.
- Graduate nurses or nursing students.
- International graduates in medicine, nursing or pharmacy.
- Graduates of other health science programs (physician assistants, medical estheticians, lab technicians, medical lab assistants, and emergency medical technicians).

PREREQUISITES : To be accepted for this workshop, one must be a health professional ( nurse, medical technologist, doctor ) or healthcare student.

02. WORKSHOP: Alzheimer disease
Whether you are a health professional caring for a clientele prone to Alzheimer disease, or you are a caregiver of a person with a progressive loss of mental habilities, you must certainly feel a wide spectrum of emotions.
Faced with this situation, helplessness, incomprehension, sorrow and sometimes even guilt can manifest themselves. To respond adequately, one need to be informed and, above all, put in place effective means of adaptation.
This virtual workshop helps to understand and support people living with Alzheimer disease. The objective is to help coping with this situation and allow the acquisition of the means to live better with the affected person on a daily basis.
PATHOLOGIES ADDRESSED: Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular neurocognitive disorder, Frontotemporal degeneration, Lewy body disease and mixed neurocognitive disorder..

- Individuals who need to self-administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections
PREREQUISITE :
- Be a health care professional (nurse, licensed practical nurse, pharmacist, physician, certified esthetician) or health care student.
- Be a caregiver justifying the need to administer medication by injection at home (medical prescription required).
- Be a person who has to self-administer injections at home (medical prescription required).
LEARNING OBJECTIVES :
- Differentiate between IM and SC routes of administration
- Identify the equipment used for IM and SC injection
- Administer an Intramuscular and Subcutaneous Injection
- Know safe practices related to IM and SC injections
- Demonstrate the correct technique for administering an IM and SC injection
- Demonstrate proper disposal of the used needle
